- Mérida CAME Terminal (Calle 68): Morning departures leave at 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, and 12:00. One-way fares cost between 220 MXN and 280 MXN (~$13–$16 USD), with travel time averaging 1 hour 45 minutes.
- Valladolid Bus Station (Calle 39): Frequent local ADO buses run every 1-2 hours to Pisté, taking 40 minutes for 50 MXN to 70 MXN (~$3–$4 USD).
2. Federal Tren Maya Rail System
The federal Tren Maya rail line serves Chichén Itzá on Section 4 of the regional system. The Chichén Itzá Railway Station is situated approximately 5 kilometers from the main archaeological visitor center. Dedicated electric shuttle buses transport rail passengers directly between the station platform and the main entry gate turnstiles upon arrival of scheduled trains.
3. Driving & Parking Infrastructure
Self-driving via rental car from Cancún or Mérida provides total control over arrival times. Driving from Cancún via the 180D toll highway takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Toll booths require cash pesos, totaling roughly 400 MXN (~$22 USD) each way.
Official parking is managed by Cultur at the primary visitor center entrance. The lot is paved, gated, and monitored by security staff. Parking costs 100 MXN to 180 MXN (~$5–$10 USD) per vehicle per day, payable in cash upon entry. Note: Ignore unofficial vendors along Highway 180 trying to flag down cars; drive directly to the main gate parking lot.
4. Local Colectivos & Taxi Dispatch Fares
Budget travel from nearby Valladolid relies on shared passenger minivans (colectivos) departing from Calle 39 (between Calles 46 and 48). Vans run every 15 to 20 minutes from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, charging 40 MXN to 50 MXN (~$2.50 USD) each way per passenger. Short trips between central Pisté and the site gate (2.5 km) are served by local three-wheeled mototaxis charging a flat rate of 30 MXN to 50 MXN per vehicle trip.

Step-by-Step Intermodal Directions from Regional Airports
From Cancún International Airport (CUN): Take the ADO airport shuttle bus from Terminals 2, 3, or 4 to the main downtown Cancún ADO terminal on Av. Uxmal (110 MXN, 35 minutes). From there, board the 8:45 AM direct ADO coach to Chichén Itzá. Alternatively, pick up your rental car at the airport terminal and drive west along Highway 180D toll road for 197 km.
From Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport in Mérida (MID): Take a local taxi or airport shuttle to the ADO CAME terminal on Calle 68 in central Mérida (15 minutes). Board one of the four daily morning ADO coaches or minivans direct to the Chichén Itzá parking lot.
⚠️ Rideshare Warning (Uber / InDrive)
While Uber and InDrive operate inside Cancún and Mérida city centers, local transport union agreements prohibit rideshare vehicles from picking up returning passengers at the Chichén Itzá site parking lot. For return trips, rely on scheduled ADO buses, colectivos, or official union taxi stands inside the main parking lot.
